There's Something About George... I Mean Oscar!

I have to admit that I don't really watch award shoes anymore because there are so many of them now that the appeal is gone. But the Academy Awards will always hold a soft spot for me as THE show of shows. And so last night, like millions of other people around the globe, I sat down in my pajamas with a bag of Fudgeos and a glass of milk, and I watched the Oscars. Ok, so they might not have been in their pajamas eating Fudgeos, but you get the point.

It's kinda sad really, but when I see people win their awards and get all teary-eyed, I get all teary-eyed right along with them. I think it's because deep-down inside, I can picture myself up there and all the people I would be thanking too. Oh come on, at one point or another, you know you've done it too; every performer has. Watching the Oscars, just reminds you of that fact.

The show was actually pretty good. John Stewart was funny without being over the top. The Best Actress Attack Ads with Steven Colbert were hilarious. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at Steve Carrell's fake eyeleashes either. Ben Stiller was funny for the first five minutes, but then it got old. Keira Knightley looked bored out of her mind and Ryan Philippe looked like he was trying to swallow up Reese Whiterspoon just so he could suck up some of the fame she's accumulated. Actually, you should check out the mini-recap on Fametracker for some funny jabs at people.

And can I just say that I slightly in love with George Clooney right now. He's just so suave and charming and looks better and better with age. He also gets my vote for Best Speech of the Night. When the first words out of your mouth are : "Well, I guess I won't be winning for Directing, tonight," you know you've got a winner. Well, it's a tie between him and the guys who won for that Pimp song. Their speech went something along the lines of "Mumble, mumble, mumble, BLEEP, mumble mumble, BLEEP, WOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Ah, the Oscars... maybe someday.
