Coming This May to the OLT:

Nancy Kenny in Isn't It Romantic by Wendy Wasserstein.

Yes, I got cast. I was also the first person the director called which, in my own head, is a good thing. She told me she chose me because the part of Heather is a complicated one. On the surface it's all confidence and sophistication, but there's a lot more going on there and she said she saw that in me.

It will also be refreshing to play the "pretty one" in a show. My last couple of shows, I've had to wear a mask (cuz my face is so deformed :p) and I've also been a "butch dyke" (scripts words, not mine) who was a mother of 2, a tired mother, a sick mother, and an elderly mother. So, like a friend of mine, I was beginning to wonder if I was being typecast. This time around though, the only mothers in the script are my own and my best friend's.

As I had previously mentioned I'm also looking forward to working with the director, Caryl McKay. I had performed with her in a show a few years ago and she is one sassy lady. I think the best comment I have ever heard about her was when someone said to me: "That's who I want to be when I turn sixty."

There's only thing that ever so slightly concerns me. My character has an interoffice affair with her boss's boss. I read with three gentlmen last night and there was only one that I felt comfortable with. Since I was the first person called, Caryl couldn't tell me who else was cast. I guess I'll find out next Tuesday.
