Shameless Self-Promotion
As promised, here are the details for my show, including a blurb from the press release. Please come and see it! There's also an Open Dress Rehearsal on Dec. 14th for those of you who can't make any of the other dates.
We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!
December 15th - 17th
6:00 PM
Studio Leonard Beaulne (at the U of O Theatre Building)
135 Seraphin-Marion
Admission: Non-Perishable Item for the Ottawa Food Bank
Local director Christopher Bedford tackles Dario Fo's 1974 farce We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay! in true clown fashion. The show is presented almost entirely in mask and deals with the hunger common folk face on a daily basis. Not only the hunger for food, but also for dignity and justice. The quest for freedom begins when Antonia, a feisty and quick-witted housewife, comes home loaded with groceries she did not pay for after participating in a revolt against the rising prices at the local supermarket. She enlists her young friend Margherita as an accomplice as they attempt to hide the "merchandise removed at deep discount" from their law abiding husbands, and from the police who come looking for the stolen goods. As they frantically try to cover their tracks they only end up digging themselves a deeper hole. You’re sure to laugh along as they attempt to disentangle themselves from their web of lies.
Oh, and just in case, I'm not incentive enough to come see the show, We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay! also stars local talents Jessica Leroux, Chris Macauley, Owen Spendlove and Doug Coburn.
