It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Last night, Darcy and I put up our first Christmas tree together. It was fun, but it did take alot longer than I had anticipated (sorry, that's the Grinch in me speaking). It looks nice and simple and all the lights work on it, so I'm happy.

I wish everything about Christmas could be simpler though. I really hate walking through the mall nowadays because it's always so packed. Darcy's been trying to get me to write out a Christmas list for a while now and my sister, who finished her shopping for this year back 2001 has been on me about presents for mom and family. Really, I just find it all very overwhelming.

I mean, why do we need a holiday for all this stuff? Why can't I just spend time with family any ol' time? Why do I need a reason to get someone a gift? And you know that I always end up forgetting someone which just ends up in an awkward situation when they give you a gift because they thought of you and you're the self-absorbed loser who didn't think of them.

Which brings me to receiving presents. Yes, I like getting gifts, who doesn't. But lately, I've even been finding receiving gifts overrated. There really isn't all that much that I need right now. At least, there isn't any moderately priced stuff that I want or need right now. Like, I really want a Pocket PC but nobody out there is going to go and drop 300 to 500$ on me to get one. And people typically don't know my tastes well enough to get me stuff that I do like, like clothes, makeup, ect because they aren't familiar with the particular brands I use. Besides, my tastes in those areas tend to be fairly expensive anyway.

So what am I trying to say? Don't feel forced to give me a gift this Christmas (except for Debbie, you may feel forced :p). If you want to get me a gift, just do it because you feel like it and you saw something that you just KNEW I would really like. For God's sakes, I definately do not need any more of the typical girl gifts (candles, bodywash, and, though I hate to admit it, chocolates). Honestly, a free electronic greeting card is enough to let me know you care.

Happy Stree-Free Holidays!

  • What is "stree" and how do you become free of it?

And just to be spiteful, I'm not correcting my spelling.
