Dedication / Ready or Not, Here I Come
It's late. It's very late for a Sunday night (or Monday morning). I just completed a 40 minute walk from the Theatre building into the heart of Vanier since my bus doesn't run anymore at this time and I had no money for a cab. But really, I have nothing to complain about. I was there since 6:30pm, but there were other people who had been there since eleven that morning. They weren't doing tech because they were getting paid for it or getting graded on it. They were doing it partially because it had to be done, but mostly because they love it. Now that's dedication.
We're not done though. Thanks to some hefty technical difficulties, we're nowhere near done. The show opens in 4 days. I'm getting stressed. I'm becoming harder and harder on myself with every jumbled line. I'm frustrated because this show has the potential to be great and I only seem to catch glimpses of that greatness here and there for reasons beyond anyone's control. I just don't feel ready yet.
But honestly, does anyone ever feel ready? Do actors ever say: "That's it! No more rehearsals, we're good to go." I would really like to meet that actor and shake their hand. And then, when they weren't looking. I'd have them declared mentally unfit since they are obviously talking crazy-talk.
Anyway, like I said, my show starts in four days. My next post will include all the information you require to come out and see it. Please do! I will either be great or I will fall flat on my face. Either way, it's still a comedy.

You will be great, the show will be great. These things have a way or working themselves out.
