The Gym

I'm trying here, I really am. I have a physical goal in mind and the means to achieve it. And yet, I'm having trouble.

You see, I've been going to the gym on a steady basis since last May. Typically, I manage to go three times a week for a half hour, mostly with my personnal trainer. Now, over the past year, my weight started at about 145 pounds, shot up, and is now back at 145 pounds. I have been told though that it does look like I have lost weight, giving credit to the fact that muscles weighs more, but takes up less room then fat, which is cool.

However, I'm not yet at a point where I am satisfied. I've come to a plateau and I realize that if I do want to slim down some more, I need to kick things up a notch. Especially when it comes to cardio, which I do very little of.

So, like I said above, I have a goal and I know how to achieve it. Then why can't I get my ghetto booty to the damn gym!!!

My boyfriend pointed out that it's because the gym isn't fun. He has a point. Why is it that I can make it to a meeting with my trainer, but not to go workout on my own? My guess is that when I'm with my trainer we get to chat and gossip a little and it's fun, like hanging out with a friend. Goodlife is a great gym, but it's not that much fun when you're there by yourself.

Then I guess what I need to keep going to the gym at times when I'm not meeting with my trainer is a gym buddy.

Any takers?

  • I'd love to be your gym buddy (I need to workout and stuff too)...but you go to the expensive non-free gym and I don't have a job. So, unless you wanna pay for my gym pass at Goodlife (please?), I guess you're out of luck.

However, I'd love a skating buddy if you could get over the fact that it is cold outside...skating the length of the canal is a great workout (I think it's around an 8km skate). You just gotta dress appropriately and once you get going it's not bad at all. It's also fun, you're actually going somewhere (as opposed to going to the gym and running on the spot or whatever), and you get fresh air too.
