So you want to be an actor?

Hodge-Podge of Stuff

I went to the Media Launch for the Magnetic North Theatre Festival today. There are a lot of great looking shows coming to town as well as some interesting subsidiary activities. I’m tempted to buy an Industry Pass so that I can see it all. However, with the Fringe Festival also happening in June, followed by an intensive rehearsal period with the Shakespeare Young Company, it would make for a very busy month.

I’ve also sent in all my information for the Fringe Festival Program. So, coming soon to the Arts Court Theatre, Mad Muses Productions presents Reality Check:

Ever wonder why good or bad things seem to happen to people? Did you ever feel like cosmic forces out of your control are just messing around with you?
Well, they are.
To be fair though, if you had to spend all eternity watching humans interact with one another, wouldn't you want to mess around with them too?

Mark your calendars now!
Reality Check in the Arts Court Theatre
Saturday, June 16 – 4:00pm (2 for 1 tickets)
Sunday, June 17 – 6:30pm
Monday, June 17 – 7:30pm
Wednesday, June 20 – 11:00pm
Friday, June 22 – 9:00pm
Sunday, June 24 – 8:00pm

Special thanks to the wonderful Darren for the image.

In other news, my agent has set up an audition in April for a French TV show. So far, I’ve had more auditions through her in the past three months then in the whole of 2006. I think it has a lot to do with opening the doors of communication with my agent. I constantly keep her up-to-date on what I’m doing, I seek out her advice on certain career matters, I let her know how auditions went, and I show strong dedication and work-ethic as an actor. I rarely turn anything down or see anything as being “beneath me”. I also realize that the actor-agent relationship is a partnership, one where there has to be mutual trust and understanding.

Or maybe there’s just been more of an abundance of work for people of my type/age range.

I’d like to think it’s a little from column A and a little from column B.

  • I thought the guy was the devil and the girl was the angel?

  • Mom is coming? Wow! I was not expecting that! I'm really touched.

And Karyn, I created the parts gender blind so that they could be played by anyone, but I always had it in my head that my version would be like that picture. Chris just wanted to read for the other part.
