Breathing Room... Sort Of
This past week, I’ve had some news. For one thing, I learned that the play that I was suppose to be doing in April has now been postponed (for an absolutely fantastic reason!) to August. For another, due to some familial obligations, I’m not able to audition/get cast in Third Wall’s upcoming show.
This means that for the next couple of weeks/months, all I have to worry about is being fully off book with Measure for Measure (almost there – PS. Kris if you are up for some geeky first folio Shakespeare talk again, call me!) and the Fringe.
It’s as if the whole universe got together to say, “You know what? You really need to just get rid of all these distractions and focus on your Fringe play… What? You’re not going to do it yourself? *sigh* Fine! We’ll do it for you.”
Ok. I get it. Thank you for the kick in the pants, universe!
Well, since I feel all signs point to Fringe, I’ve decided to be ambitious. Last year, my friend Beth was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and I participated in the Ottawa Super Cities Walk for MS to support her. As part of Team Buttons and Beaus, we raised funds to help bring awareness of the disease. This year, we’re doing it again.
Since we were looking for more creative ways to fundraise (and we're very competitive people who want to be the number one team in Ottawa), we'll be holding a coffee house event at the Agora Bookstore on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 1pm to 5pm. There will be poetry, there will be music, and there will be me… performing what will amount to be a first read of my Fringe script.
There!
I said it. I’ve put it out to the universe. And now I actually have to do it.
My time-slot on Saturday is from 3:30 to 4:00pm. I would love it if anyone who reads this could make it out and give me some feedback on the script. Also, bring some money to give to this worthwhile cause. The whole day is pay-what-you-can.
However, if you can’t make it out on the 17th (I do understand that it is St. Patty’s Day after all), feel free to support me and the team by donating online on Nancy's Donation Page.
