Happy World Theatre Day!
I think it's appropriate that I learn about my upcoming GCTC audition on World Theatre Day. The bonus is that the audition will be taking place in May on my birthday.
For those who don't know, "World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). It is celebrated annually on the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. Various national and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion.
One of the most important of these is the circulation of the World Theatre Day International Message through which at the invitation of ITI, a figure of world stature shares his or her reflections on the theme of Theatre and a Culture of Peace."
I know how I'm going to celebrate today: I have a free ticket for Vision's The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine.
If you are looking for something to do on this most glorious of days, here are a couple of things happening in town.
First of all, like I mentioned above, Vision Theatre has their show at 8pm at Arts Court. At the NAC, the Company of Fools is presenting their annual theatre challenge, which looks like a lot of foolish fun and the French play, ForĂȘts. The GCTC has The Four Horsemen Project and Pippin opens at the University of Ottawa. At the other end of town Kanata Theatre opens Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
All in all, lots of great stuff happening all over town so you better go out there and celebrate! I think you have to. It's quite possibly an international law.
