Only If I Didn’t Want to Work in This Town Again

I got a notice from a mailing list I subscribe too that W-Five is looking for “industry stories for an investigative piece into the underbelly of the Toronto Film Industry.” From what I gathered, they are looking for a lot of bad experiences people have had in the film industry.

Now, as someone who has worked on a variety of film sets in various capacities, as someone who has done her research on the union, and as someone who has even thought classes on the business, I definitely have plenty of stories I could share.

But I’ll be damned if I would ever share them with investigative journalists who are, in all likelihood, looking for something they can sensationalize for the masses.

Yes, there are negative sides to the industry, but I’ve also found a lot of positive sides too. Unfortunately, I doubt they would really care about the warm fuzzies I get from being on set.
