Haven't They Ever Seen A Girl Before?

I haven't updated lately because I had been on set for three strait days. And when I wasn't on set, I was spending all my free hours calling people to come on set.

I learned a couple of things in that time.

For one, my respect level for techies grew a couple notches as they were still going strong after 9 days on set, and my brain had turned to mush after 3.

On the other hand, I also learned that techies are like construction workers. Most of them are young, single and work crazy hours night and day. When you work that much, the possibility to meet someone new becomes very slim. So when you throw a new girl into their mix, they all try to pounce at once.

I have never had so many people hit on me at one time in my entire life. If anything, being on set can be very good for your ego.

That's not to say that I was the only female on set. However, the other women are either actresses (and you just don't go there) or coworkers you see so much of that they are practically relatives.

Yesterday, I finally started to think that there was a pool going around on who would get my number first.

Memorable lines include:

Hey Nancy, can I have your number?

So Nancy, when are we going to make out?

And my favorite:
Ya those guys are all single so they go crazy for a pretty, single girl on set, but me, I don't care because I have a girlfriend... however if you wanted me to, I would dump my girlfriend for you.

Single girl, huh?

Did I tell any of them I had a boyfriend? Hell no! My life is made so much easier if they believe I'm available and if the stars were properly aligned, they might be the lucky one.

Am I, what the French like to call, a "cock tease"? Hell yes! You think I'd be able to get a drive home to Vanier at three in the morning in one of the company cars otherwise?

I think I'm finally starting to realize what I believe my sister has known her entire life. Women can get men to do all kinds of stuff if they play their cards right.

Now that I've tasted that kind of power, I don't think I want to give it up. I think I'm finally starting to remember how I used to get all those free drinks in first year.

  • It's an indirect complement to me and my male prowess.

And no matter how many times I tell Nancy she's beautiful my opinion never counts, so this theoretically helps solve her self-image problem which I have no power to resolve.

Plus its important to be reminded that you've "still got it" after 4 years together with the same person.
