Let's Get Physical

One thing I learned when I started taking film acting courses was how different it can be from theatre. In fact, the hardest thing for me was to try and, not exactly tone it down, but to make it more conversational.

Now, with this new play I'm doing, I've got to go to the opposite end of the spectrum and make things, to quote Lib Spry, "bigger." I had never done very physical theatre before and I can see how much of a challenge it's going to be, well, physically. After just one rehearsal, my legs and my back are a little sore and my voice feels raw and out of practice. And we were only there for about an hour.

This means that I've finally found my excuse to get back to the gym. Which is nice. I think a lot of yoga and core work would be really helpful. Also, I'm definately going to need to warm up my voice for each and every rehearsal. If anyone out there has a few tips and tricks when it comes to your voice (Kris Joseph, I'm looking at you!), please share!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go make some tea.
