So you want to be an actor?

Was that an audition?

Ok, so I have two auditions to talk about, technically. Why technically? Well, because for one of them, I'm not really sure what happened.

For the first audition, I had sent in the typical resume/headshot through email and waited for a response. It came on Saturday morning as I was trying to sleep in, so I was pretty out of it. Anyway, I get the call, the director introduces himself and his project. He also tells me that he did not look at my resume headshot because he's scared of computer viruses and the like. Fair enough. He asks if I have any acting experience so I briefly tell him about graduating from the U of O in Theatre and the film I'm shooting. "Oh, ok," he says. "Well, I'm going to be giving the better scripts to people with acting abilities, so you would definately be one of them. Does that sound good?"

Uh, sure.

The movies are all five minutes shorts that should take about three hours to shoot. He said he would call me about two weeks before to find out my availability.

And that's it. I hang up and roll around in bed some more trying to sort through the hazy fog in my brain.

So let me get this strait. The guy's never seen my resume, doesn't know what I look like, and is just taking my word for it that I can act. Why is it that alarm bells are going off in my head?

:/

As for the second audition, that was much better. Show up, do a cold read, a little improv, thanks alot, we'll contact you if we need you for any roles.

I didn't get the massive adreline rush I usually get when I know I've nailed it and will quite likely get the part, but it was still fun. And professional, which is very important for me.

Bah.

At least I'm doing something.

On another note, the Fringe Festival is coming up. Since I have a job and I know many people putting on shows, I will be getting a ten show pass. I'll try and post up some reviews of what I see on here. If anyone would like to be my show buddy (a necessity when all the opening night shows are 2 for 1), just let me know. I would love the company!
