A Great Week
I really should have updated by now with all the stuff that's happened, but WoW has been taking up a lot of my time.
Anyway, this past Thursday, I got an early morning call to be an extra in the afternoon. It's really not unusual to get little more than a 12 hour advance warning for this kind of stuff, but it was all good. I was available and I had a blast (for more on extra work see my post on the subject in the archives). I even ended up in a scene with only 4 people so who knows. If you ever see a MOW (movie of the week) entitled A Killer Upstairs, keep your eye peeled for me :)
That being said, I really do want to move on to actor and principal roles. You know, roles where I would actually have to talk. Well, my New Year's resolution will definately be to get an agent to help me achieve that. Although I have an audition next week for a non-union romantic comedy, so you never know. The dialogue from the sides (parts of the script) I got was really good.

This past weekend I ended up doing a workshop with Aldo Tirelli of The Montreal Casting House. This guy is a pretty big name in casting. He did the Casting for such films as Confessions of a Dangerous Mind with George Clooney and recently finished casting Lucky Number Slieven, a feature that shoots in January with Josh Hartnett, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Lu, and Ben Kingsley. He's definately a good person to know. And the workshop was fan-freakin-tastic!!! I learned so much about the casting process, about how to prepare for an audition, and heard some really great annecdotes. Having been an actor for 12 years before becoming a CD, he's very actor friendly. He doesn't put any pressure on you and really wants you to succeed. He also let us know what CDs are looking for and how to make it entertaining. All in all a very rewarding experience brought to you by the good people at ACT. If you ever get the chance, you should take this workshop!
