Agent News

I didn't want to call them. I had heard that agencies do not like to be bothered. However, after speaking with quite a few people, I decided there was no harm in following up to make sure they had received my package. Well, of the three agencies, here were the responses I got.

Agency #1 - No answer, left a voicemail message asking to call me back if they received it... I'm not expecting a call back.

Agency #2 - I was told that they had not had the time to look at new stuff that has come in the past few weeks. My stuff is probably in there. They are hoping to start sorting through stuff next week.

Agency #3 - The nicest of the bunch. I was told that they also did not have time to look at new packages, but she did check and see if mine was in there. It was. She said they will try to get back to me as soon as they have a moment.

Well, at least I can stop worrying that they simply filed it under "G" (that's for garbage for those of you who didn't get it :P). I guess calling wasn't such a bad idea.

*****************************

Word on the street right now is that things are pretty slow in Ontario film-wise. That's because the Liberal government has not gone through on their promise to increase tax breaks for the film industry. Currently the tax cut stands at 11% in Ontario. However, since it's at about 45% in Manitoba and Nova Scotia, productions are going out there. *sigh* Liberals

There will be a protest on Dec. 1st at Queen's Park in Toronto. I, unfortunately, will be in Ottawa, but I highly encourage anyone to go. This doesn't just affect actors. It affects everyone remotely connected to the film industry: tech people, catterers, restaurants, hotels, tourism, ect. This is a billion dollar industry that is not being helped due to the rising Canadian Dollar. It's cheaper to fly a whole crew out to Australia right now. Let's do all we can to make sure it stays here instead.
