Well That's Never Happened to Me Before...
After a perfectly lovely Open Dress Rehearsal on Friday, you just knew that something bad had to happen. Because as we all know, a Good Open Dress = a Bad Opening Night.
Fortunately, we had a preview performance for TD Waterhouse that served as our buffer.
You see, today for our 2 o'clock preview, the lead did not show up.
She thought we were doing the show at our regular 8pm timeslot and, as it turns out, two of the digits for her cell phone number were inversed on the call sheet, so no one was able to reach her until well after the show was done.
The propmaster stood in as her replacement and did a fantastic job with it too.
We are all laughing about it now, but at the time, I was pretty worried. Mostly for her safety, because she is not the type of person to make a mistake like that; she's always writting everything down.
She called me earlier today to apologize. She's a very sweet girl. The Director told us she wanted to come down to the theatre to let everyone get their anger out on her, but really, no one was angry. She's such a nice person that we mostly felt bad for her.
Well, now that that's over and done with, stay tuned for a shameless self-promotion.
