Always Looking Forward
So things seem to be going well with both shows. I had 2 very encouraging rehearsals tonight. Yes, two. Until the end of June I can kiss my evenings goodbye since I'm in rehearsals all the time now. But I honestly don't mind. I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing.
I have also been getting quite a few audition notices via email from Equity that have got me thinking. One notice was for Gananoque's Thousand Island Playhouse and I sent my stuff in. The others are for Winnipeg, Sudbury, Toronto and Montreal.
This has got me thinking. While Gananoque isn't that far away, would I be able to manage going to an audition in, let's say Sudbury? To be fair, I believe they are holding generals in Toronto, but is it worth the drive/train/bus down to perform two monologues and then come back to Ottawa in a rush (cuz I'll have a performance that night) and quite possibly empty-handed?
I don't know
Travel to auditions has been on my mind a lot lately. To make matters worse, I don't exactly have any money coming in to pay for a trip to Toronto or something. And since most theatres don't exactly put Ottawa on their list of places to find talent, it gets me thinking about a potential move.
I hate that thought though, because moving is a huge pain in the ass. And what about Darcy? Do I leave him here to pay rent on his own while I look for work elsewhere? That wouldn't be very fair. I have plenty of friends in Toronto though, and my old roomate offered me a place to stay if I ever needed it. So who knows?
But between you and me, I'd really prefer not to have to leave.

Hi Nancy,
If you do need to go to Sudbury, I go down fairly often and will for sure be going in June. Sometimes I rent cars, sometimes I get rides...either way...don't be afraid to ask around for help...everyone wants to see you realize your dream (and especially to see you get into a union)!

I could end up moving to Gananoque...or anywhere for that matter. I don't have much choice...I gotta go where the work is! But luckily I don't have a boyfriend to leave behind, so it's a little less complicated.
I hope it works out for you, Nance.
