She has J-Lo's Butt and Sounds Like Drew Barrymore
What more do you want?
I had a callback audition tonight. At the first audition, the guy said I sounded like Drew Barrymore. He called me that as soon as I walked in the door. I guess there are worse celebrities you could sound like ;)
Anyway, it went well. I got home from work, put on some makeup and changed my clothes. Since I knew this was an audition with an all male crew, I put on pants that were incredibly tight at the waist but really make my butt look nice. Cleavage kinda bothers me and seems unprofessional, but I had no such qualms about my ass :p The pants streched out enough to be semi-comfortable and I was off.
I am very lucky in the fact that I can memorize lines pretty quickly. I truly looked at the sides for not even an hour and I had all three pages somewhat memorized. By the time I got there I was ready. I think it gave me bonus points because I was the only one not using the script. It made it alot easier to get into character and I was quick on the delivery too. One of the guys I had to read with was a bit too slow because he was searching for his spot. To be honest, I thought at first that he was the reader and not actually auditioning. But he did much better than the second guy I read with (who was also using the script).
One problem though, there was alot of swearing in the script. While I'm comfortable uttering a cuss here and there, there were long strings of them strung together. I feel like I might have come off as having tourette's instead of just plain being angry.
Oh well, the guys seemed to like it. And I did have a lot of fun. I left the audition with a good buzz. The buzz always makes me feel like I can do anything I want that's out of line, like drinking on a work day or, in this case, getting a poutine and a spicy chicken sandwhich at KFC (watch out Hell's Angels!).
Point being, I had fun and I guess that's all that really matters. However, this buzz usually comes with some pretty big lows if I don't get another audition anytime soon (see the I Feel Like Crap post). But I guess I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts.
