So you want to be an actor?

Working out is hard

Acting, especially on stage, is a very physical medium. To be able to perform well, an actor does need to be in fairly decent shape.

Well, since last May, I have been going to the gym on a pretty consistent basis of 3 times a week. However, all those times were typically with my trainer (yes, I have a trainer at the gym - I recommend it to anyone, it's great!) and we have focused mainly on weights. Now this is great since I've built up a lot of muscle mass and lowered my body fat percentage by at least 2% if not more. What I've realized though is that I really need to kick things up in the cardio department. I was barely doing any. Add that to a desk job and my heart is one lazy couch patatoe.

So, yesterday I tried the new release of a class called Body Combat (new release meaning they have new music and routines). I knew I was in trouble when the instructor asked how many people where new to the class and, out of about 30, I was the only one. Oy! I just want to say, it's a good thing I've tried a class like that in the past or else I would have been completely lost. Not to mention how fast paced everything was. Which, on the one hand, is good because it will get me in shape faster, but, on the other, I was about ready to give up five minutes into the class. It was so freakin hard! And so fast! But I hung in there, and will probably be back Saturday for more.

A ran into a girl I knew in the class and she said I would be in pain in the morning. I brushed it off. After all, I'm a superwoman who can bench 75 pounds. I don't feel pain anymore after going to the gym. Boy, was I ever wrong! My back is killing me right now from all the twisting and my butt hurts from all the kicking.
But it's a good kind of hurt and therefore I will keep going.

Who knows, maybe I won't only get in shape. Maybe I'll be able to kick someone's ass too!

:)
