Worries
I'm a worrier. I think it's in my genes to be a worrier cuz my mom is a pretty big worrier too. The difference is, my mom worries about things that are important and are usually worth worrying about. I, on the other hand, worry about almost everything under the sun. I especially worry about things that I have no control over and could never change in a million years. My mom just told me that she went to the emergency room for an ulcer. A few months ago, I was scared I might have one.
This has got me thinking. Why do people worry so much? It's just as unhealthy as smoking or whatever, but you don't see any tv ads telling you to quit worrying.
Damn... I'm now worrying about worrying

On a brighter note, career-wise things are going pretty well. Like I mentioned before, I'm in a play and a short film. Well, I've also been taking class through ACT (www.actottawa.com). Let me tell you, if you are an Ottawa actor and you want to try and get somewhere professionally, you have got to check this place out!! The main instructor, Claudia Jurt, does most of the extras casting for every union production in town. Extra work is a great way to get your foot in the door. Not to mention the great contacts you make with other extras on set. You see, most people who get started in "showbiz" do so through extra work. Why not? You get great experience on set, you meet tons of people with similar interests, and there is always that possibility that you might get a line. And you know what that means? UNION CARD!
So anyway, there's a movie of the week called "The Perfect Neighbour" being filmed right now and there's a strong possibility I will be doing extra work for it. The only problem is that shooting is in Manotik right now and I don't have a car. Having to rely on the bus to get around to jobs is a huge pain in the ass. For instance, I can't go to auditions in Montreal or Toronto right now because I can't afford the trip.
Also, the other good thing about ACT, you find out about all of the upcoming stuff first hand and there are tons of guest speakers and instructors who are working people in the business. These people come to class, watch you work and give you some awesome advice. And you never know, next time they are casting a show, they just might remember you.
My piece of advice for this blog: Acting is all about who you know. So for those aspiring actors out there, go to classes and local productions. Network, network, network!
